Glass Skin Treatments - Here's Everything You Need to Know

Who doesn’t want beautiful, glass-looking skin? As we age, fine lines, loss of elasticity, and dullness of our skin become a growing concern. This Korean beauty trend might just be the answer to all our prayers. Korean skincare treatments are well-known for gifting us with that soft, glowing, flawless skin we all seek, and luckily glass skin treatments, one of the newest yet most popular skin treatments in Korea, are performed by Sabrina at her Vaughan medical spa, with more than 15 years of experience in the health industry.

In this blog, we discuss everything there is to know about glass skin treatments and whether it is right for you, before booking a free consultation with Sabrina.

What are glass skin treatments?

Skin Botox is an injectable skin care treatment that gives patients the look of instant glass skin! The term “glass skin” is meant to describe skin that is even-toned, incredibly smooth, and naturally radiant – essentially skin that is so “perfect,” it resembles glass.

So how exactly is this procedure done? The Skin Botox Glass Treatment is done by using Neurotoxic protein, or in other words, Botulinum Toxin, which is the same fluid used in traditional Botox procedures. The difference between this procedure and traditional Botox, is all in the execution of how/where it is injected. In traditional Botox procedures, fluid is injected quite deep into the muscles below the skin's barrier to target deeply rooted imperfections and is performed around three to five times. Whereas with this Skin Botox Glass procedure, the Botox is injected just below the skin’s surface in micro doses around 40-50 times along the forehead, jawline, and under-eye area.

Essentially, you could see this treatment as a diluted Botox procedure.  In return, these injections will reduce the appearance of fine lines, disappear pores, improve elasticity and texture, and control excess sebum production (which helps against acne) as well as sweating. This treatment specifically targets your pores to leave your complexion smooth, dewy, glowing, and flawless – like a real-life selfie filter!

Does it hurt?

This treatment involves the use of micro-needles, so patients might feel a slight sting, but it is at most, mild discomfort.

What is recovery like?

This treatment is very minimal and as a result, its recovery is very quick. Patients can expect to feel as usual within a few hours to (at most) a few days. You may leave with some redness of your skin, but that will disappear within two days of the treatment. Overall, no downtime is necessary, and you can return to your usual routine with no worries directly after this treatment.

How long does it take to see results?

Patients can expect results almost immediately and will last between three to six months, varying between patients. Because of its instant results, this treatment is perfect for patients who have a special event to attend to within the next few months (or even days) for guaranteed beautiful skin!

Traditional Botox versus glass skin treatment?

Since both procedures involve injections to the skin/face, what is the difference between the two? As mentioned prior, Botox injections prevent fine lines by weakening the muscles of specific areas of the face (such as laugh lines or your forehead). On the other hand, glass skin injections specifically target your pores to create an overall smoothing effect by injecting just below the skin's surface. Glass skin treatment is not as effective as Botox for very deep wrinkle lines as it is injected into the outer layers of the skin and doesn’t reach your muscles like Botox injections do. However, as a result, glass skin treatment will also not affect your facial motions and expressions.

Both treatments are great options depending on your main areas of concern.

Are glass skin treatments right for me?

If you are looking for a non-invasive and quick treatment with no recovery needed nor an intensive skincare regimen combined with numerous face serums to improve the appearance of your skin, our glass skin treatment at Sabrina Medical Aesthetics is perfect for you. This treatment is also great if you are looking to specifically reduce the appearance of open pores, fine lines, and other imperfections to achieve radiant, smooth, and healthy-looking skin without the need for makeup. . If your biggest skin concerns run deeper such as targeting deep wrinkles, crow’s feet and laugh lines, then procedures such as our Anti-wrinkle Injections or Dermal Fillers may just be the thing for you!
